Overview

FedEx, formerly known as the “Federal Express Corporation” from 1971-1997 and FDX Corporation from 1997 to 2000, is an American multinational agglomerate holding company that offers e-commerce, business services, and transportation. Its headquarters is in Memphis, Tennessee, U.S. This organization was founded on May 5, 1971, in Little Rock, Arkansas, U.S., by Frederick W. Smith. He began the formal operations of this company in 1973, and it proliferated so much that it generated a billion dollars in revenue by 1983.

In 1984, this entity expanded its operations to Asia and Europe. Furthermore, it acquired one of its significant competitors, the “Flying Tiger Line.” For marketing purposes, this organization shortened its name to “FedEx” in 1994, and it has been used for several years as its trade name. In January 1998, this company acquired Caliber System Inc. and initiated additional amenities in addition to express shipping. Caliber included various subsidiaries, which also amalgamated within FedEx.
